Jamie Wordsworth – Headteacher, The Castle School

Jamie is the Headteacher at The Castle School, appointed in 2026, having previously been Deputy Headteacher since 2019. 

Jamie graduated from Cardiff University with a Bsc in Zoology, before returning to the region to complete his PGCE at the University of Exeter. Following a number of years working at Eggar's School in Hampshire, he relocated back to the south west with family. His career since has included roles as Head of Year at Uffculme School and Assistant Headteacher at St James School in Exeter.  Jamie also has experience as a governor at primary level. He successfully completed his National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) in 2024. 

Jamie is very proud to lead a school aligned tightly to the values of the Blackdown Education Partnership, as an alumnus of Court Fields School himself. He believes strongly in the importance of community and in ensuring that every student feels valued, supported, and able to contribute meaningfully to the world around them. Jamie is particularly passionate about championing those who may face challenges, prioritising inclusivity and equity, while maintaining high ambition for every child.
